Patriots the 3rd team to ever score 6 rushing touchdowns in postseason

It is still hard to imagine that the an offense led by future hall of fame quarterback Tom Brady could dominate a game without Brady throwing even one touchdown pass. Well, anything can happen in the NFL playoffs and a Patriots team that is usually highlighted by their quarterback instead chalked up 6 touchdowns on the ground. In fact, that was just the third time this had happened ever in the NFL postseason.

What makes this even more significant is that nearly every offense in today's league favors the pass over the run. Leave it to Bill Belichick to shock everyone by giving full commitment to the ground game, having Brady take the backseat during this game. He still made plays in the driving rain, but it was LeGarrette Blount who deserved the game ball while Stevan Ridley found his mojo again.

The team totaled 234 rushing yards on 46 attempts, averaging 5.1 yards per carry. Rushing attempts counted for about 63% of the team's plays, a shocking statistic considering the best player in team history is their quarterback. Whether this was part of the game plan or the poor weather conditions maybe made the coaches lean towards a running attack more, it worked out as well as the Patriots and their fans could have hoped.
