Rex Ryan happy Patriots not practicing in MetLife stadium for Super Bowl
The Peyton Manning defenders breathed a sigh of relief as Manning hurdled the last roadblock - and his arch nemesis New England - to make it to the Super Bowl in New York. Another person breathing a sigh of relief was New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan; not because he is a Manning defender but because he didn't want the Patriots using the Jets practice facility if they had made the Super Bowl.
Ryan said, when prompted by the Broncos using their practice facility: "It could be worse. It could be New England."
Obviously the tone was in a joking manner, but it's something that every fan can relate to. It is a point of pride to not have your rivals not win in your stadium, but that is obviously out of the Jets' and Giants' control come next Sunday.
However, a more relevant and interesting plot twist from the point arises. Peyton Manning has a chance to tie his brother, Eli, for Super Bowl rings on Eli's home turf. Peyton is superior to his little brother in almost every category save for the most important one: Super Bowl wins. It was never really a doubt who the better brother was in the NFL, but Eli having more Lombardi trophies was always an interesting wrinkle in their legacy. But now Peyton has a chance to take that away from Eli also if they both finish their career with two championship wins.
