Robert Kraft issues statement on death of Sam Berns, will be honored before game time
Sam Berns was a teenager from Foxborough, MA. A Patriots fan struggling with a disease called progeria, which essentially has children exhibit signs of old age. Unfortunately, he passed away last night due to complications with the disease.
He was featured in an HBO Documentary titled "Life According to Sam". When Patriots owner Robert Kraft saw it, he immediately reached out.
In total, Kraft has helped raised $1.18 million for progeria research. He also had Berns visit the Patriots early in the year before their game against the Atlanta Hawks.
Berns was slated to be an honorary captain today before the Patriots took on the Colts. Kraft released a statement following the news of his death.

The Patriots will honor Sam with a moment of silence before today's game.
