Ryan Allen to undergo MRI today

Yesterday we learned that, in New England, not even the punters are safe.

After an injury riddled season highlighted by All-Pros like Jerod Mayo, Vince Wilfork and Sebastian Vollmer being placed on season ending injured reserve, it's almost become a given that a significant player will be injured in every game.

Thus far, the Pats specialists have escaped...until yesterday!

Rookie punter Ryan Allen injured his shoulder, presumably on a scuffle in the endzone after a high snap. He left the game and didn't return. Stephen Gostowski handled the punting duties and Tom Brady handled the holding.

Today, Allen is having an MRI.

MassLive.com:
The initial thought, according to a source, is that Allen sprained his acromioclavicular joint in his right shoulder.

The acromioclavicular joint, according to the Southern California Orthopedic Institute, is the joint formed where the acromion connects to the collar bone or clavicle. If the MRI confirms the diagnosis, the injury typically heals within a few weeks, though that can change depending on severity.

If Ryan Allen isn't able to go, the Patriots punter of the last few years and former NFL's Most Interesting Man - Zoltan Mesko - might not be an option. He's currently under contract with the Bengals (who have two punters for some reason). He might ask for a release though?
