A brief summary of the sh*t hitting the fan in Miami

Richie Incognito lashed out at Jonathan Martin and investigator Ted Wells on twitter earlier this week, protesting the lengthy delay in Wells' report of the Dolphins bullying scandal being released and telling Martin "the truth will bury you."

Well, the Wells report was released today, and it's bad news for Incognito. Here's a brief summary of the 144 page document, which can be read in it's entirety HERE. Please note that all vulgar language in the following post is directly quoted from the report.
  • Fine book: The Dolphins offensive line kept a "fine book", tallying fines for various offenses ranging from farting to tardiness. Martin's last five fines have "pussy" written next to them as the fine-able offense. Even more damning, Incognito fined himself $200 for "breaking Jmart" (his best buddy!), while giving Nate Garner, reportedly another frequent victim of abuse, a $250 bonus for "not breaking first". For the record, Mike Pouncey was also fined $100 for his "subpoena by FBI" related to the Aaron Hernandez case. Incognito also reportedly texted teammates asking them to "destroy the fine book" a week after Martin left the team.
  • Nate Garner: Martin may have been the one to crack, but teammate Nate Garner was also a frequent target of bullying in the locker room. In fact, Incognito joked in text message conversations with former teammate Jake Long that "Nate is on the verge of killing us all". Garner also texted his support to Martin after he left the team, saying "I have been dealing with this shit for 6 years", an interesting claim that suggests the Dolphins culture of bullying predated both Incognito and Head Coach Joe Philbin by several years.
  • Racism: Most of Incognito's teammates bristled at the suggestion that he was a racist when Incognito's vulgar voicemail to Martin leaked to the press, but the Wells report states that racial taunts were frequent from Incognito. Martin, who was repeatedly called everything from a "stinky Pakastani" to "half-n*gger piece of shit", was far from the only victim of Incognito's racially tinged barbs. The team's Asian-American trainer was repeatedly called both a "Jap" and "Chinaman" (because that clearly makes a lot of sense), and confided to Martin his anger after Incognito, Pouncey and John Jerry wore traditional Japanese headbands to practice and threatened physical violence in retribution for Pearl Harbor. "Honorary black man" Richie Incognito also joked about shooting black people (and Dolphins GM Jeff Ireland!) with an unnamed white teammate in a text conversation about buying firearms.
  • Martin's sister: Despite having never met her, Incognito, Jerry and Pouncey repeatedly made threatening sexual comments about Martin's sister. Many of those had already leaked to the press prior to today, but the newest grossest quote accuses her of having "a wolf-puss. a fat hairy pussy." Fortunately for Martin's unnamed sister, she never met Incognito, as he was fined twice last offseason for behavior at a charity golf tournament, including harrassment of a female employee that included touching her genitals with a golf club, touching her with his body inappropriately, and squirting her with water.
  • OL coach Jim Turner was involved: Not only was Turner aware of the bullying culture maintained by Incognito, Jerry and Pouncey, but Wells' report claims he became a participant. During the 2012 Christmas season, Turner gave each of his lineman gift bags. Each bag contained a female blowup doll except for one, given to a player who was constantly called gay by his teammates, which contained a male one. Turner also reportedly pressured Martin via text to make a public statement and clear Incognito and the locker room of any blame during the height of the controversy, saying "I know you are a man of character. Where is it?"
  • Incognito leaked Martin's texts to a reporter: Incognito texted Martin less than a week after Martin stormed out of the Dolphins practice facility, checking in on his well being and letting him know "All that's important is that you feel better and know we miss u dude". Martin suspects Incognito did so with the intention of leaking the conversation to the media and garnering some desperately needed positive PR for himself, and Incognito confessed that he did exactly that, explaining how that text conversation was widely reported less than an hour after it occurred. Hours later, Incognito expressed his real feeling to Pouncey, starting the conversation with a direct "Fuck Jmart, that faggot is never [allowed] back".
  • Martin contemplated suicide: Incognito tweeted earlier this week that Martin was suicidal (way to keep things in-house, Richie!). The Wells report confirms this, including a list of pros and cons to continuing his career that Martin wrote following getting "punked" (his words) by his offensive line teammates during an offseason yacht trip. The report also contains several conversations in which Martin discusses the bullying and his personal lows with his parents.
After all this, what are Incognito's thoughts? Why, Richie just wants everyone to get along.
