Brady's bombs don't always work....

The season is over, which means that it is already time to look at what went wrong and what can be improved on. There is a lot, that we know. But what Tom Brady takes away from it is none other than the deep passes attempted against Denver in the AFC Championship.

"I need to hit that throw, that's a throw I'm capable of making and I make nine out of 10 times. I didn't make it yesterday. When you get in games like this and the margin of error is slim, you've got to make those plays. I didn't make it." That is what Brady had to say to WEEI the day after the game against the Broncos.

Brady says that he can make it, but can he really? According to masslive.com, Brady attempted 75 passes for twenty yards or more..... he completed 22 of them. That 29% completion ratio is nothing to be impressed with, especially when it comes from Tom Brady. But massive also found this stat:

Of his 53 misses, 20 appeared to be due to the fault of the receiver. Eight passes were dropped (Edelman led with three), seven were the result of the receiver blatantly running the wrong route, and the rest were the cause of other factors, such as Aaron Dobson pulling up lame on a deep pass against Buffalo or Rob Gronkowski losing a pass in the sun.

Taking those instances away, Brady's completion percentage of deep balls rises to a more respectable 40 percent.

Maybe next year the Patriots should stop looking towards Brady's deep bomb and focus more on running and gaining yards. Especially if the injuries start to pour in once again, it may be time to look over the offense and start making corrections.
