Chopping Block: Tommy Kelly

Well, the Super Bowl is over and it's time to fully embrace offseason football.

Following the Super Bowl, teams tend to start trimming the roster, freeing up cap space for the free agency period. Who could be a cap casualty?

Tommy Kelly.

Scheduled to have a cap hit of $2,656,250 in 2014, cutting Kelly could save the Patriots a lot of money. In fact they would save roughly 1.7 million dollars of they cut Kelly (patscap.com).

Beside for the obvious savings, Kelly is an older player coming off injury and he may not be as vital as he was coming into last season. With the emergence of Chris Jones and Sealver Siliga, the Patriots could have a bit of depth at defensive tackle and because of this Kelly would become expendable. And that's a fair amount of money to be spending on an expendable player.

Do you think Kelly will be cut?
