Devin McCourty is starting his final year of his contract, and that means that the Patriots are looking on about their defense. But McCourty made a bold statement today, when he was asked by profootballtalk.com about the possibility of the Patriots defense comparing to Seattle's.

"I think we can. Those guys had a great game plan and they went out there and executed it on the biggest stage of the year. That’s what it really comes down to in games like that. Just last year, we went through a lot defensively and as a team, and to see guys continue to work hard and try to get better and go out there to win as many games as we did — to fall a little short, but it gives you the confidence going forward we know we have the right guys to build something.”

To be quite honest, it will not be that hard for the Patriots to look and play like the Seattle Seahawks defense. With all the injuries last year, it was easy for the patriots to back down, but they didn't and instead they made it to the AFC Championship. If they can stay healthy, they have a very strong possibility of being as good as Seattle. But the key lies in the ability to stay injury free.
