The Boston Herald is reporting that the Patriots are set to meet with cornerback Aqib Talib about his contract at the Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.

Per the Herald:

The Patriots are set to meet with Aqib Talib here in Indianapolis as the two sides work toward a contract, according to a source. Talib is set to hit free agency March 11, but the Patriots have exclusive signing power until then.

Indianapolis becomes a ground for meetings like this between clubs and agents who use the combine as a starting point for negotiations. Talib is the top corner on the market as of right now, ahead of and the fact that the Patriots are willing to meet with him sends a message that Talib is a priority. Terms of a possible deal are unclear, according to the Herald, but a good starting point to go on is the deal the Patriots gave Talib last year worth $5.5 million. The Patriots may approach Talib with a similar offer intially, but they will look to take advantage of the 3 weeks they have before free agency.

Personally, I'd like to see them make a serious effort to re-sign Talib. That is, assuming Talib can stay healthy, which is a big question mark given his problems with injuries since coming over to New England. But if he does stay healthy, I would rank him as a top 5 or maybe even a top 3 corner, and he would be a definite asset. Thoughts? Let us know - leave a comment below.
