Broncos sign Safety TJ Ward

The NFL year has started again. While there is no official news coming out of the New England Patriots, some of our rivals have already been busy improving.

This is pretty bad news for the Patriots for two reasons.

Firstly, the Patriots could really use a Safety. After releasing Steve Gregory, the Pats are very thin at the position, and while Devin McCourty has NFL experience, he's still relatively new to being a Safety. Apart from that, it's unproven mid round draft picks all the way. Bringing in a guy like TJ Ward wold have been a great addition to stabalise the secondary.

Secondly, he's gone to perhaps the Patriots biggest rival in 2014- the Denver Broncos. Also needing to improve their secondary, they've gone out and brought in a playmaking Safety who has been rated highly among other Free Agent Safeties. He plays both the run and pass well and he also knows how to ruin a Tight End's knee...

Meanwhile, Bill Belichick bides his time (in an underground lair of sorts, one can only imagine) and prepares to makes the moves he needs to make to get the Patriots back into Super Bowl contention.
