Denver Broncos favorites to land Demarcus Ware

One of the best pass rushers in the league, Demarcus Ware, was released by the Dallas Cowboys today.

It didn't take long for him to find a suitor.

The combination of Von Miller and Demarcus Ware should scare the living daylights out of the NFL. The Broncos had success recently with the tandem of Elvis Dumervil and Miller rushing off the edge. After a fax machine snafu, they ended up losing Dumervil to the Broncos and their defense suffered this past season.

It's unfortunate news for Patriots fans as one of their biggest rivals could've just gotten much stronger.

Patriots fans are automatically thinking, "Oh, the Patriots are so cheap".

Of course, that makes absolutely no sense. The Pats were never going to be major players for any big free agents other than their own. Here are some numbers (via sportac).

The Denver Broncos have $24,693,700 in cap space.

The Patriots? $14,467,504.

So, that's a pretty huge difference. The Broncos have the advantage of having many of their best players still on their rookie contracts (looking at you, Demayrius Thomas).

The Patriots meanwhile, have most of their money tied up in players that Patriots fans were clamoring for them to "not be cheap" and sign, like Vince Wilfork ($11,600,000 cap hit), Logan Mankins ($10,500,000) and Jerod Mayo ($7,287,500).

With around $14 million in cap space, the Pats can barely afford to retain both Julian Edelman and Aqib Talib.
