Phil Costa visits with the Patriots

Center Phil Costa has spent his entire four year career with the Dallas Cowboys before being released just recently. Now a free agent, he could possibly be joining the Patriots.

The offensive line is one of the biggest needs on the team. With the center of the last few years, Ryan Wendell, now a free agent the team could either use a replacement or some insurance. Costa does seem best served for a backup role though. They also will need help on their interior if they cut Dan Connolly as expected, Connolly carries a $4,083,334 cap hit.

Costa has played sparingly over the past few years. After playing and starting in all 16 games in 2011, he played sparingly the next two years, appearing in only six games total.

Costa also visited with the Detroit Lions today.
