Matthew Mulligan signs with Chicago Bears

Ex-Patriots tight end Matthew Mulligan has agreed to a one-year deal with the Chicago Bears, according to the Boston Herald. Mulligan is a blocking specialist, but he did catch an important touchdown against the Atlanta Falcons.

The Patriots still have Rob Gronkowski, Michael Hoomanawanui, and D.J. Williams and could possibly draft a tight end come Draft Day, so the loss isn't a big one. It's pretty easy to replace 16 yards of production, and the Patriots did well with drafting Gronk and Aaron Hernandez (at least until he was busted for murder), so if they draft a tight end, I would be good with it. Also, as far as tight ends go, I'm more worried about when Gronk gets healthy. I may be stating the obvious, but a healthy Gronk is a lot more important to the Patriots success than Matthew Mulligan.

In all seriousness, I wish Matthew the best in a Bears uniform.
