The Boston touch: Patriots set to make Boston proud this season
New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is already the talk of NFL pundits as they have pitched him to take the team all the way through to Super Bowl victory next year.
The Patriots have won the Super Bowl title three times throughout their 55-year history: in 2001, 2003 and 2004. With such an outstanding record at the turn of the century, the team will be keener than ever now to enjoy a winning streak for the 2010s.
Last month, TV channel the NFL network dedicated part of its Total Access show to a thorough discussion on Tom Brady’s ability to take the Patriots through to the Super Bowl in 2015.
Heath Evans and Jamie Dukes both expressed their beliefs in Brady to take the title for New England, with Evans saying: “The odds are in his favor. You look at the consistency of the organization; it’s Bill Belichick and him tied at the hip.”
Another facet of the New England Patriots team is the defense, which could see a push in the right direction thanks to the drafting of cornerback Darrelle Revis this offseason.
“Magic out of nothing”
But football pundits Dukes and Evans overlooked this potentially show-stopping new addition, instead focusing on Brady’s enduring talents. Evans added: “We know they lacked offensive weapons in some of the last couple of years, but he finds a way to make magic out of nothing. Every year they’re sitting in that AFC Championship, battling it out with Peyton Manning or Joe Flacco.”
The aforementioned names were of particular interest, largely thanks to Manning’s relatively poor performance at last year’s Super Bowl, and the multi-talented Joe Flacco’s connections with Boston.
The Boston touch
Indeed, the Flacco family has a gift for sports: the Baltimore Ravens quarterback’s brother, Mike Flacco, plays for the Boston Red Sox, another Boston sports team who have proven to be amazing sportsmen, winning three World Series since 2004.
While the New England Patriots could win it for the NFL fans out there, Boston has a whole host of sports teams who have set amazing records in previous years.
The San Antonio Spurs may have just clinched the most recent NBA title, but the Boston Celtics have the undefeated record of the most NBA wins in history, having won 17 titles.
Meanwhile, 2014 was unsuccessful for the Bruins, but the NHL team should have hope, having won 6 Stanley Cups in their 90-year history.
With Brady, the Red Sox and the Celtics all proving themselves in recent years, Boston is set for an amazing future as a sporting region.
