Brandon Lloyd is making an impression at 49ers camp

The curious case of Brandon Lloyd was a test in the waters that simply did not work out for the Patriots. A talented wide receiver, Lloyd failed to bring in the electric play-making ability that New England fans thought they were guaranteed when he signed with the Pats. After a few flashy plays and a slightly above average (if that) season in Foxboro, Lloyd quickly found himself packing his bags. It was only after his release that stories began rising of Lloyd's inability to mesh well with teammates in addition to some behavior issues.

Lloyd sat out a season and now has a new home in San Francisco with the 49ers, where he is so far beloved. The team seems to enjoy Lloyd's 'entertaining' manner of watching film, which consists of the wide receiver re-enacting the rep and plays. After getting a few laughs in though, wide receiver Anquan Boldin did make sure to applaud Lloyd's veteran presence in addition to the skills that Lloyd has brought to the team:
"On the field he doesn't look like he took a year off. You can see how smooth he is, how he strides and how he makes his cuts."

Bolding went on to explain that with such a deep receiving core, Lloyd standing out as the best has really pushed the rest of the wide receivers to step up their game. Head coach Jim Harbaugh was not shy about dishing some hefty complements to Lloyd either:
"The first thing I thought was 'Whoa do I like that!" he said. "Then I thought, 'why didn't I do that?' It's one of the neatest things I've ever seen. It makes me giddy to watch him do it. It's awesome."
"He has that full speed mentality and is 100 percent engaged in meetings," Harbaugh said. "We have made friends almost right off the bat. He's the kind of guy I can connect with."

Lloyd's animated way of going about things may fit in with a... well, more animated team like the 49ers who are not afraid to approach the game loudly. There is no doubt that the 49ers have a different philosophy and approach to the game than the Patriots. Maybe this other style will help Lloyd excel once again.
