For Easley, recovery is still top priority
Before he tore his ACL last September, Patriots rookie Dominique Easley seemed to be on a fast-track to locking up a spot early in the first round of the NFL Draft. Because of the injury he of course fell a bit, chosen with the 29th pick by New England. The DT is reportedly on track to make a full recovery from his knee surgery performed by the now famous Dr. James Andrews, but the Patriots are taking no chances.
Easley has not participated in training camp yet and has instead been placed on the 'non-football injury' list. There has been no setback or issue regarding his recovery, but the team and the rookie have continually focused on working the strength of his knee. He spent about an hour today doing conditioning training while the rest of the team practiced. Patriots fans should not be worried though, as all of this is simply precautionary work.
Easley is still expected to be fully recovered and be prepared for a majority, if not all of, this upcoming NFL season. Though training camp is highly crucial in the development of young players, Easley will not be able to participate for as long as he is on the non-football injury list. The good news is that he can be taken off that list at any time. The Patriots want Easley to be back to his old ways once he is fully recovered, so to them there is no sense in rushing the process.
