Judge rejects motion to dismiss murder charges against Aaron Hernandez

Associated Press

A Bristol Superior Court judge has rejected a motion to dismiss the murder charges that Aaron Hernandez is facing. Hernandez is accused of the murder of Odin Loyd in June of 2013.

Hernandez's lawyers argued that prosecutors hadn't shown probable cause to sustain the murder charge against Hernandez and that they hadn't presented any evidence or motive for the slaying.

The judge stated that circumstantial evidence can be used to establish probable cause. Also that the state does not need to establish a motive for the murder charge to stick.

Aaron Hernandez will remain in jail with out bail while he awaits his trial. The trial is scheduled to start on January 9, 2015
