Larry Fitzgerald says Pats never contacted him about a trade

So evidently Larry Fitzgerald never heard from the Patriots.

Yes, this story is pretty dead by now, but it’s still just an interesting tid bit. A few months ago - really more like back in January I guess - rumors started circulating that the Patriots had sent out feelers to the Cardinals about trading for Fitz. This would have made sense (kind of) for the Cardinals because of the huge amount of cap space that Fitz’s contract was eating up and the rapid development of Michael Floyd. Obviously nothing happened.

Well, this week USA today asked Fitz about the rumors and he claimed he was never contacted:
"Nothing at all. I mean, I heard stuff that was being said. But there was never a time where the team approached me. Nothing like that.”

I mean, whats the guy suppose to say? “Oh yea, Bill called me personally and said, ‘Hey, Tom Brady > Carson Palmer, get your ass out here!’”

Just further proof for all us rabid fans who thought the clouds had parted and the Pats were going to make the trade of the century were dead wrong. Oh well.

But I hear Andre Johnson is available…
