Gronks chances of playing Week 1 are 50%
We have all been waiting for Rob Gronkowski to step onto that field and take ownership of the Patriots offense. After tearing his ACL in week 14 last year brink has been out healing, and has been limited to practicing in non-contact drills, which means no 7v7's and 11v11's.
According to NESN.com, Gronkowski has a 50% chance of playing in the season opener next month against the Miami Dolphins. Although he isn't back yet, Gronk says he is getting closer and closer each day. Defenders are not allowed to touch Gronk until he gets the all clear from team doctors, but Revis is getting his jabs in.
“It's good just to have a defender out there, instead of just running my routes on air right now. To break off a guy right in front of you, just like it's a game — you got to break off the guy, break off the defender. Having Darrelle out there and having him give me some contact — a little bit, pushing me on my routes — just making me a better player out there as of right now.”
Patriots fans will remember that Gronk did not make the trip to Virginia last week for the first preseason game against the Redskins, and he will not be seeing any playing time against the Eagles coming up this week, that is a guarantee.
