Report: Ryan Mallett to start over Tom Brady in tonight's preseason opener
Who is ready for the subs?
After some intense joint practices with the Redskins this week, coach Belichick has opted to sit quarterback Tom Brady for tonight's preseason opener.
We heard reports that Ryan Mallett would get extended reps in preseason and this would sure support that theory. He will, obviously, get the start in Brady's absence.
According to @jeffphowe, Pats backup QB Ryan Mallett will start tonight's preseason opener. Tom Brady had extended work in joint practices.

Both Mallett and Garoppolo have largely struggled in training camp so far. Though, Mallett has been the better of the two. Mallett has not gotten a chance to showcase his talents in the regular season, and as the team looks to likely trade him this year, he will have to prove himself worthy starting tonight.
Disappointed in no Brady? Don't worry. Darrelle Revis will still make his debut tonight, as well as the returns of Vince Wilfork, Tommy Kelly, Jerod Mayo and the rest of the injured stars from last season. There will be plenty to keep an eye on tonight.
