CB Keon Lyn hopes to go from orange to nautical blue, red, new century silver and white

Stephen Bailey, Syracuse:
Former Syracuse cornerback Keon Lyn worked out for the New England Patriots on Thursday, he said in a text message.

Lyn, who missed the final eight games of his senior season following knee surgery last October, was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Indianapolis Colts before being waived in early June.

Another former Syracuse cornerback is looking for an NFL home. Ri'Shard Anderson was cut from the Tennessee Titans practice squad on Wednesday, the team announced.

NFL teams out looking for a linebacker normally scour the Penn State campus. When they look for a cornerback, Syracuse University is not one school that comes to mind. Syracuse was once the place to find the great running back. Legendary runners like Jim Brown, Ernie Davis, Floyd Little, Jim Nance and Larry Csonka all had great success on the gridiron for the Orange.

Jim Brown was on campus along with former SU star defensive ends, San Diego Chargers Dwight Freeney and New England Patriots Chandler Jones, to help the Orange film a new pregame video that will be shown as the team prepares to make its entrance this season. Brown posted a Twitter photo of him addressing a bunch of players, and lo and behold facing him with his back to the camera is a player wearing jersey No. 44, which was retired several years ago.

Ron Konrad, a former Miami Dolphins fullback, is the last person to wear #44 for the Orange. Konrad has ties to the New England Patriots defensive coordinator, Matt Patricia. Last year when the head coaching position for Syracuse was open, Rob wrote a glowing recommendation for Matt. Konrad is a highly successful financial advisor for Allen Konrad Wealth Management. He advises close to 300 clients, which include many participants from the NHL, PGA Tour and the NFL.

Keon Lyn is recovering from offseason knee surgery. He has waited for his rehabilitation to be complete before trying out for NFL teams. The 6'1 " 201 lb. cornerback from Miramar, FL is looking for a chance to crack the loaded New England secondary. It appears he will get his opportunity due to the efforts of a famous Orange alum. Maybe he should ask to wear #44.
