Josh McDaniels: Gronk's workload will increase

Winslow Townson - USA TODAY Sports

The New England Patriots continue to limit the number of offensive snaps for Rob Gronkowski as he continues his comeback from a torn ACL. Offensive coordinator Josh Mcdaniels says an increase in Gronk's workload is coming

ESPN Boston

I definitely think that Rob has made some plays for us. I certainly think that will continue and hope that will continue,” McDaniels said. “We are trying to work him back into the game plan to an overall level where he can contribute the most.

And I think each week we have done a little bit more, and hopefully we can continue to do that. I think that any time you are talking about a player who is coming off a situation like Gronk was, you have to be smart and you do what you can do. I’m happy with the things that he has done so far, and we will continue to add more as we go through the year.

Gronkowski was on the field for 42 of 73(58 percent) snaps against the Oakland Raiders. Thats the first time this year he has been on the field for 50 percent or more of the snaps.

He also appears to be willing to take on more contact as after one catch he lowered his shoulder and took on a couple Raiders defenders instead of going out of bounds.

Gronk is such an important piece of the offense that is good to see they are being smart with his health. A healthy Gronk in the playoffs is better than a less than 100% Gronk taking too many snaps in week 3.
