Aaron Dobson inactive for football reasons, Belichick issues statement denying report

Aaron Dobson inactive twice this season, but why? (Photo credit AP)
Yesterday Shalise Manza Young of the Boston Globe wrote that sources told her a loud disagreement between Patriots wide receiver Aaron Dobson and Offensive Coordinator Josh McDaniels was the reason he had been inactive for the last two weeks.

Today, according to multiple reports, at his press conference Bill Belichick first said that Dobson was inactive for football reasons. Then later denied that Dobson and McDaniels even had a disagreement. Strangely for Belichick he let the story hang in the air saying, “I’ll have a comment on that later.”

When and why are the questions that jump into my mind.

When is later? Belichick is so vague that it wouldn’t surprise me to see him resolve Dobson v. McDaniels later today or during his Hall of Fame introduction speech.

Why deny that a fight ever happened and state flatly that Dobson was inactive for football reasons and then bring it back up again? Belichick doesn’t EVER give more information that he deems necessary, so why offer up the idea that there is more to address, unless of course there is more to address.

Did a Dobson/McDaniels argument actually happen? Was it with another coach? Was this leaked by someone in the room? Will Belichick be firing some staff assistant as a result? Belichick doesn’t care if reporters want to come up with a million conspiracy theories about him, the team, JFK, 9/11, but he never addresses them because the team is always, “onto Cincinnati.” So why go Belichick 101 with his denials, but say there will be a comment later.

If Dobson is being benched for football reasons, that brings up more big questions. Does Dobson not get the offense? He seemed to last year. Has he regressed to be below the point he ended the 2013 season at? Is his foot not allowing him to move as he needs to? More questions that I don’t think that we will ever get answers too, although who knows maybe Belichick will comment later.
