Josh McDaniels thinks offense will be fine

I appreciate Josh McDaniels being confident that the offense will get going, you sort of have to be as a coach, but there needs to be a change.

It starts with him (besides the offensive line), which he acknowledges in an article on Pro Football Talk. His play calling through four games has been questionable, raising doubts as to how good of an offensive coordinator he really is.

He rose to fame in 2007, when he had the unstoppable combination of Tom Brady and Randy Moss. This got him a head coaching job with the Denver Broncos, which went poorly. He made his way over to St. Louis, without much success, before ending up back in New England.

Obviously McDaniels best year was 2007, so you could say Moss and Brady made McDaniels. This year has really exposed McDaniels. There's calls you can make that revolve around getting rid of the ball quick, but he hasn't called enough of those. His third down play calling in particular has been terrible. He hasn't been a help to the team, that's for sure.

Of course you can blame the offensive line, which is very viable. That needs to get better, but shouldn't have McDaniels seen this and adjusted accordingly? Maybe he's trying, but whatever he's doing isn't working.

Good news is, Josh McDaniels acknowledges that he needs to get better. He should have known that earlier this year and made changes, but he didn't. Hopefully Monday night was a wake up call and McDaniels will actually do something. It won't be fine if these changes don't happen, especially when compounded with the offensive line problems. Hopefully whatever changes he makes work, because this team will be in a whole lot of trouble as the season goes on with some of the teams that they are playing.
