Rex Ryan refuses to send sympathy cards to his opponents.
Vacchiano, New York Daily News:
Players get hurt in sports all the time. That’s just the reality of their jobs. Life must go on, and the Giants players know it, even if it has to somehow continue without Victor Cruz.
“It can be something you rally around,” said defensive tackle Cullen Jenkins. “I’ve played on teams where we had big-time injuries and issues and they’ve been successful teams.”
Rex Ryan may be getting some advice from his crosstown rival, the New York Giants. While Rex has lost his best cornerback to an achilles injury for the season in Dee Milliner, other teams face similar, if not worse, challenges. 13 players are listed for the Jets on the Week 7 injury report, two of which are definitely out, LB Trevor Reilly and WR Greg Salas. Only one is doubtful, S Josh Bush, and 10 players are probable. Those 10 probables are willing to go the inspiration route for the Jets.
The New England Patriots listed 14 players for Week 7 injury report, but two of those are out for the season in LB Jerod Mayo and RB Stevan Ridley. Two other players are also out for Thursday's game in DB Nate Ebner and OL Cameron Fleming. After you sort through the injuries, this is now, Advantage - JETS.
Rex on desperation: "As bad as its gets. Desperate to say the least"
— Mike Petraglia (@Trags) October 14, 2014
Desperate would seem to be too strong a word. Concerned might be more appropriate. Rex only has to win one game, and everything will fall in place. His starting QB, Geno Smith is not injured while New England QB Tom Brady is listed as probable. The mantra for the season was "All in. All the time." I see no reason for Rex to change things if he believes in his guys. If he doesn't, there is only one trump card left to play.
