The Detroit Lions want the Patriots to fear them

Tom E. Curran, CSNNE:
There’s no Patriots’ mystique that’s going to unnerve James Ihedigbo.

In fact, the former Patriot, Raven and Jet flipped a question posed by Detroit media Wednesday about being intimidated by the Patriots and according to Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com, “Man, look at the names and guys we’ve got on this team. You should be intimidated by the people we've got on this team. We’ve got [Ndamukong] Suh. We've got guys who are beasts in this league, not even just on this team. So why should we feel we should take a back seat to anybody. Why should we?”

S James Ihedigbo, the former UMass standout, is correct when he tells us that Ndamukong Suh is a "beast." That is being kind in referring to him by only that title. Terror, panic, horror and distress are a few unpleasant emotions that come immediately to mind for the average fan. The same does not hold true for an NFL player.

“One of things that you have to understand about the guys that play in this league, they are afraid of nothing,” Lions head coach, Jim Caldwell said. “Fear is something that I think is talked about outside of those realms. Those guys that walk between those stripes, there’s not a whole lot of reputation or things of that nature that are going to make a real big difference to them.”

According to Patriots' head coach Bill Belichick, James Ihedigbo is a "smart, instinctive player in the passing game, a guy who is a good run force player, smart, a smart football player, good size." Bill should have added that "James didn't talk much while he was here."

Fear is a great motivator. Especially when DT Ndamuking Suh is loose in the offensive backfield.
