Jets call themselves the best 3-12 team in history

The Jets just don't know when to quit. After narrowly losing to the Patriots for the 2nd time this season, they said that they are "the best 3-12 team in history." Boy, do they love to talk. They don't know when to stop.

Per Larry Brown Sports:

“If you look at our season, besides two or three games, we’ve been in every game,” rookie safety Calvin Pryor said, via Phil Perry of CSNNE.com. “You can cut it and slice it how you want to. I think we’re — what are we, 3-12? — I think we’re the best 3-12 team in the history of football. No doubt about it.”

Safety Dawan Landry agreed.

“The record doesn’t dictate the team that we are,” Landry explained. “We played a lot of close games that could’ve gone either way. We could’ve easily had 10-11 wins. Easily. It just hasn’t been our year. We got one more game, we’re gonna try to finish it off on a high note.”

At least they have confidence, even if it is misplaced. The Jets played the Patriots close twice this year, but they have very little else to celebrate this year. Well, they'll get a high draft pick next year, but that's about it as far as silver lining goes. Their season was marked by poor quarterback play from Geno Smith and Michael Vick, and silly mistakes from their coaching staff, like ruining a perfectly good touchdown against the Green Bay Packers by calling timeout. The best 3-12 team in history? Keep telling yourselves that, guys. You'll need that confidence because it will be a very long off-season. I just wonder if they'll display the same confidence when they have a new coach at the helm.
