Brandon Browner won't take a pay cut

Nancy Lane - Boston Herald

Yesterday the Patriots allowed corner back Brandon Browner to explore his options and gauge his value around the NFL.

Today, it seems like he knows what he is worth and isn't willing to take a pay cut to stay with the team.

Browner is owed $5.5 million this year. But the way his contract is structured, if he is cut or traded he won't count as any dead money towards the cap. Therefore, creating more cap space for the team to re-sign Revis or other players.

But would the team be wise to let him leave? Based on what the middle of the road corner back market has been set at so far in free agency, they won't be able to sign someone else for cheaper. Not to mention once he came back from his four game suspension last year is when the defense really took off.

What ever the decision is, it has to be made by today's 4pm deadline.
