Shane Vereen signs with the New York Football Giants

Paul Schwartz, NYPost:
Vereen was targeted 12 times in Super Bowl XLIX and caught 11 of those Tom Brady passes for 64 yards to help keep the chains moving against the Seahawks. In the past two seasons, Vereen amassed a combined 99 receptions for the Patriots.

The Giants will try to wrap up a deal with Vereen in time to announce it at 4 p.m. Tuesday, the official start of NFL free agency.

It is amazing what happens when your team wins the Super Bowl. Teams take notice, even if one has only seven career TD's to his credit. The New York Giants were the one team that saw the need for a pass catching weapon out of the backfield. 26 year old Shane Vereen fills the bill that was supposed to be taken care of by RB David Wilson. Due to injury, Wilson was forced to retire last year. The Giants wasted no time in signing the former 2011 second round Patriots' draft pick from the University of California.

Shane Vereen had a big year in 2014 for the New England Patriots registering career highs with 96 attempts, 391 yards rushing and a 4.2 average. One Super Bowl ring capped off the productive year for Vereen. A big payday with the enemy, the New York Giants completes a hectic year.

It was fun while it lasted.
