The Vikings could go from AP to Stevan Ridley

The latest rumor surrounding Stevan Ridley is that he could be the Minnesota Vikings replacement for Adrian Peterson. According to Twincities.com, the Vikings reportedly inquired about Stevan Ridley after Peterson expressed some dissatisfaction with the Vikings organization.

A source said Monday the Vikings have inquired about the New England Patriots free-agent running back. However, the source stressed it is all very preliminary and there might not be any interest if Peterson were to remain with Minnesota.

Coach Mike Zimmer said last month the Vikings wouldn’t look to sign a running back in free agency. However, that was before Peterson’s level of discontent with returning to the team became known.

Peterson, who missed 15 games last season because of a child-abuse incident, is displeased with some in the organization because of a belief not enough was done to get him back on the field in 2014. It’s possible the star could be traded.

This is still preliminary, but it's shaping up to be a very interesting free agency for the Patriots. Free agency opens today at 4 pm, so we'll keep you posted.
