DeMaryius Thomas wants the Denver Broncos to pony up

Anne Stapleton, Associated Press:
Peyton Manning will have to do without his top target this offseason unless the Denver Broncos reach an agreement with Demaryius Thomas on a long-term contract.

The star receiver said Monday that without a deal, he'll skip the team's offseason workouts that begin April 13 and bypass Manning's annual passing camp next week at Duke.

Following three All-Pro seasons with the Denver Broncos, WR DeMaryius Thomas is in line for a big payday. The numbers speak for themselves. In 2014, Thomas grabbed 111 passes for 1619 yards and 11 TD's. The three year totals have 297 catches for 4,483 yards and 35 TD's. Of course, it helps to have the extremely accurate QB Peyton Manning throwing him the football.

Since the 2014 season ended, the Broncos have lost in free agency WR Jacob Tamme to the Atlanta Falcons and TE Julius Thomas to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Denver has cut ties with WR Wes Welker as well. With the addition of TE Owen Daniels from the Baltimore Ravens and a new head coach in Gary Kubiak, it is essential to have the players in camp learning the new offense.

DeMaryius Thomas has been very active in his work with the charity a "Call of Duty." This organization benefits military veterans and their families.

The upbringing for Thomas was quite cruel. His mother was sentenced to 20 years in prison for possession of cocaine and crack cocaine with intent to distribute. His grandmother got life in prison for operating the cocaine ring. His mother is eligible for parole in 2016.

With contract negotiations at an impasse, the Broncos will have to use the $12.8 million franchise tender by the July 15 deadline on Demaryius Thomas.

"Our goal," Thomas says, "is still the same no matter what—win a Super Bowl."

The Denver Broncos are 38-10 in the regular season for the past three years. A prolonged holdout by DeMaryius Thomas will send Peyton Manning off into the sunset on a "pony", not a "horse."

Thomas has seen rock bottom in his life. It is time to give a little, and answer the Denver Broncos' Call of Duty. They need you now more than ever.
