Patriots Life Final 1st Round Mock Draft
With the draft a mere day away, some of the writers at Patriots Life decided to collaborate and compile a complete first round mock draft. If you missed following along live, below is the list of picks that our four writers (Adam Bogdan, Andrew Ludwig, Ned Brady, and Liam Cunningham) made via Twitter. The draft order was randomly assigned before the draft, and each writer was given the picks based on their position. For example, the individual with the 1st pick also has the 5th, 9th, 13th, and so on picks.
Due to the unpredictability of trades, there will be none in this mock draft. Andrew Ludwig (@aludwig25) had the 1st pick, Ned Brady (@therealnedbrady) had the 2nd pick, Liam Cunningham (@LC_NEP) had the 3rd pick, and Adam Bogdan (@PatriotsInform) had the 4th. Here we go.
Be sure to follow the four of us for draft coverage this weekend. Less than a day way.

Pick 1 - Tampa Bay Buccaneers:
With the #1 overall pick, the #Buccaneers select Florida State QB Jameis Winston #PatsLifeMock
— Andrew Ludwig (@aludwig25) April 29, 2015
The #Buccaneers have been quite vocal about wanting Winston. Getting him at number 1 will give them that QB they've been searching for
— Andrew Ludwig (@aludwig25) April 29, 2015
Pick 2 - Tennessee Titans:
With the #2 overall pick, the #Titans select Marcus Mariota, QB, Oregon #PatsLifeMock
— Ned Brady (@therealnedbrady) April 29, 2015
Sticking with my gut that MM goes 2nd overall. Not sure if it will be with TEN or someone else via trade #PatsLifeMock
— Ned Brady (@therealnedbrady) April 29, 2015
Think potential to land a franchise quarterback will lead Tennessee that way, barring an offer they can't refuse #PatsLifeMock
— Ned Brady (@therealnedbrady) April 29, 2015
Pick 3 - Jacksonville Jaguars:
With the #3 overall pick, the #Jaguars select Florida DE/OLB Dante Fowler #PatsLifeMock
— Liam Cunningham (@LC_NEP) April 29, 2015
While Leonard Williams is the most talented lineman in the draft, Fowler is the best pure edge rusher and will help Jax #PatsLifeMock
— Liam Cunningham (@LC_NEP) April 29, 2015
Pick 4 - Oakland Raiders:
With the #4 pick in the #PatsLifeMock draft, the Oakland #Raiders select USC DL Leonard Williams.
— Adam Bogdan (@PatriotsInform) April 29, 2015
The California kid gets to stay close to home and the Raiders get the best player in the draft. Shores up a bad rush defense. #PatsLifeMock
— Adam Bogdan (@PatriotsInform) April 29, 2015
Pick 5 - Washington Redskins:
With the 5th overall pick the #Redskins select Clemson DE Vic Beasley #PatsLifeMock
— Andrew Ludwig (@aludwig25) April 29, 2015
If the board fell out like this the #Redskins would most likely trade. They need D-Line help, thus the Beasley pick #PatsLifeMock
— Andrew Ludwig (@aludwig25) April 29, 2015
Pick 6 - New York Jets:
With the 6th overall pick the #nyjets select Amari Cooper, WR, Alabama #PatsLifeMock
— Ned Brady (@therealnedbrady) April 29, 2015
Jets have bigger needs than WR following Brandon Marshall trade, but Cooper is too good a value to pass up at 6 #PatsLifeMock
— Ned Brady (@therealnedbrady) April 29, 2015
Jets have been rumored to be targeting Stanford LT Andrus Peat. Could consider trade down, but tough to pass on Cooper there #PatsLifeMock
— Ned Brady (@therealnedbrady) April 29, 2015
Pick 7 - Chicago Bears:
With the 7th overall pick the #Bears select DE Bud Dupree, Kentucky #PatsLifeMock
— Liam Cunningham (@LC_NEP) April 29, 2015
Pick 8 - Atlanta Falcons:
With the #8 pick in the #PatsLifeMock draft, the Atlanta Falcons select Missouri DE/OLB Shane Ray.
— Adam Bogdan (@PatriotsInform) April 29, 2015
It may come as a shock to some, but Ray won't be dropped nearly as much as people suspect with his marijuana incident. #PatsLifeMock
— Adam Bogdan (@PatriotsInform) April 29, 2015
Falcons are heavily rumored to be looking to trade up to grab Dante Fowler Jr. but this will be their consolation if they fail #PatsLifeMock
— Adam Bogdan (@PatriotsInform) April 29, 2015
Pick 9 - New York Giants:
With the 9th pick in the draft the #Giants select Iowa OG Brandon Scherff #PatsLifeMock
— Andrew Ludwig (@aludwig25) April 29, 2015
Scherff is expected by many to go to the Jets at 6 so with him available at 9, the #Giants cannot pass him up #PatsLifeMock
— Andrew Ludwig (@aludwig25) April 29, 2015
Pick 10 - St. Louis Rams:
With the 10th overall pick the #StLouisRams select Todd Gurley, RB, Georgia #PatsLifeMock
— Ned Brady (@therealnedbrady) April 29, 2015
Strongly considered Kevin White for #Rams there, but Gurley just too talented to pass up. Would really add balance to offense #PatsLifeMock
— Ned Brady (@therealnedbrady) April 29, 2015
Pick 11 - Minnesota Vikings:
With the 11th overall pick, the #Vikings select Michigan State CB Trae Waynes #PatsLifeMock
— Liam Cunningham (@LC_NEP) April 29, 2015
Waynes is the consensus number one CB in the draft and will immediately bring some stability to a terrible secondary #PatsLifeMock
— Liam Cunningham (@LC_NEP) April 29, 2015
Pick 12 - Cleveland Browns:
With the #12 pick in the #PatsLifeMock draft, the Cleveland #Browns select WVU WR Kevin White.
— Adam Bogdan (@PatriotsInform) April 29, 2015
Talk about a steal. The Browns finally get their starting WR and without needing to trade up. Amazing luck for them. #PatsLifeMock
— Adam Bogdan (@PatriotsInform) April 29, 2015
Pick 13 - New Orleans Saints:
With the 13th pick, the #Saints select Washington CB Marcus Peters #PatsLifeMock
— Andrew Ludwig (@aludwig25) April 29, 2015
The #Saints desperately need help on defense and adding Peters improves their physicality and gives them an attitude #PatsLifeMock
— Andrew Ludwig (@aludwig25) April 29, 2015
A player many Pats draft pundits had their eyes on, we are mocking Marcus "The Strangler" Peters to the Saints at 13
— Liam Cunningham (@LC_NEP) April 29, 2015
Pick 14 - Miami Dolphins:
With the 14th overall pick, the #MiamiDolphins select DeVante Parker, WR, Louisville #PatsLifeMock
— Ned Brady (@therealnedbrady) April 29, 2015
#Dolphins reportedly hoping for Gurley, With him off the board, have choice between Parker and Breshad Perriman at WR #PatsLifeMock
— Ned Brady (@therealnedbrady) April 29, 2015
I actually think the best football choice for #Dolphins would be La'el Collins, but PR of murder story likely scares them away
— Ned Brady (@therealnedbrady) April 29, 2015
Pick 15 - San Francisco 49ers:
With the 15th overall pick, the #49ers select Oregon DL Arik Armstead #PatsLifeMock
— Liam Cunningham (@LC_NEP) April 29, 2015
Pick 16 - Houston Texans:
With the #16 pick in the #PatsLifeMock draft, the Houston #Texans select UCF WR Breshad Perriman.
— Adam Bogdan (@PatriotsInform) April 29, 2015
I am not a giant fan of Perriman, but his speed & size will entice a team looking to stretch the field. Texans need another WR #PatsLifeMock
— Adam Bogdan (@PatriotsInform) April 29, 2015
Pick 17 - San Diego Chargers:
With the 17the pick, the #Chargers select Wisconsin RB Melvin Gordon #PatsLifeMock
— Andrew Ludwig (@aludwig25) April 29, 2015
Losing Ryan Matthews forces the #Chargers hand here. They need Gordon to round their offense off. #PatsLifeMock
— Andrew Ludwig (@aludwig25) April 29, 2015
Pick 18 - Kansas City Chiefs:
With the 18th overall pick, the #KCChiefs select Andrus Peat, OT, Stanford #PatsLifeMock
— Ned Brady (@therealnedbrady) April 29, 2015
Chiefs can get a WR later in deep class. Need OL help now. Peat can play either tackle spot, insurance if Eric Fisher continues to suck
— Ned Brady (@therealnedbrady) April 29, 2015
Considered Cam Erving for #Chiefs there as well, but value of a potential left tackle at that spot trumped help on interior OL #PatsLifeMock
— Ned Brady (@therealnedbrady) April 29, 2015
Pick 19 - Cleveland Browns (from Buffalo Bills):
With the 19th overall pick, the Cleveland #Browns select Danny Shelton, DT, Washington #PatsLifeMock
— Liam Cunningham (@LC_NEP) April 29, 2015
With Kevin White drafted earlier to help on offense, Shelton is a talented lineman who will help shore up a bad run defense #PatsLifeMock
— Liam Cunningham (@LC_NEP) April 29, 2015
Pick 20 - Philadelphia Eagles:
WIth the #20 pick in the #PatsLifeMock, the Philadelphia #Eagles select Miami WR Phillip Dorsett.
— Adam Bogdan (@PatriotsInform) April 29, 2015
Rumors are swirling that Chip Kelly loves this kid, and with his athleticism it makes sense. Potentially a reach here. #PatsLifeMock
— Adam Bogdan (@PatriotsInform) April 29, 2015
Pick 21 - Cincinnati Bengals:
With the 21st pick, the #Bengals select UCONN CB Byron Jones #PatsLifeMock
— Andrew Ludwig (@aludwig25) April 29, 2015
The #Bengals CB's are getting old and with the addition of Dennard last year they got younger in two years #PatsLifeMock
— Andrew Ludwig (@aludwig25) April 29, 2015
Pick 22 - Pittsburgh Steelers:
With the 22nd overall pick, the #PittsburghSteelers select Kevin Johnson, CB, Wake Forest #PatsLifeMock
— Ned Brady (@therealnedbrady) April 29, 2015
Steelers desperately need CB help and will be delighted to land one of the best cover guys in this draft here #PatsLifeMock
— Ned Brady (@therealnedbrady) April 29, 2015
Pick 23 - Detroit Lions:
With the 23rd overall pick, the #Lions select La'el Collins, OT/G from LSU #PatsLifeMock
— Liam Cunningham (@LC_NEP) April 29, 2015
The Lions need help up front and Collins is a versatile, powerful player who will make an immediate impact #PatsLifeMock
— Liam Cunningham (@LC_NEP) April 29, 2015
Pick 24 - Arizona Cardinals:
With the #24 pick in the #PatsLifeMock draft, the Arizona #Cardinals select Florida OT DJ Humphries.
— Adam Bogdan (@PatriotsInform) April 29, 2015
Humphris can either take over for Veldheer at LT or grow at RT for the Cardinals. Controlling the line is key in Cards offense #PatsLifeMock
— Adam Bogdan (@PatriotsInform) April 29, 2015
Pick 25 - Carolina Panthers:
With the 25th pick, the #Panthers select Ohio State WR Devin Smith #PatsLifeMock
— Andrew Ludwig (@aludwig25) April 29, 2015
Pick 26 - Baltimore Ravens:
With the 26th overall pick, the #BaltimoreRavens select Jalen Collins, CB, LSU #PatsLifeMock
— Ned Brady (@therealnedbrady) April 29, 2015
#Ravens have big needs at CB and WR, but can get a good WR in second round. Collins has the physical traits to become a star #PatsLifeMock
— Ned Brady (@therealnedbrady) April 29, 2015
With their pick, Ravens take last elite CB prospect off the board. Unless you really like Eric Rowe for Pats at 32 #PatsLifeMock
— Ned Brady (@therealnedbrady) April 29, 2015
Pick 27 - Dallas Cowboys:
With the 27th overall pick, the #Cowboys select Malcom Brown, DT, Texas @PatsLifeMock
— Liam Cunningham (@LC_NEP) April 29, 2015
Pick 28 - Denver Broncos:
With the #28 pick in the #PatsLifeMock, the Denver #Broncos select FSU G/C Cameron Erving.
— Adam Bogdan (@PatriotsInform) April 29, 2015
After losing several of their interior OL this offseason, the Broncos score on one of the most versatile OL in the draft. #PatsLifeMock
— Adam Bogdan (@PatriotsInform) April 29, 2015
Pick 29 - Indianapolis Colts:
With the 29th pick, the #Colts select Florida State DT Eddie Goldman #PatsLifeMock
— Andrew Ludwig (@aludwig25) April 29, 2015
The #Colts always get torn in the run. Eddie Goldman will help bolster their DLine and defend the run #PatsLifeMock
— Andrew Ludwig (@aludwig25) April 29, 2015
Pick 30 - Green Bay Packers:
With 30th overall pick, the #GreenBayPackers select Benardrick McKinney, LB, Mississippi State #PatsLifeMock
— Ned Brady (@therealnedbrady) April 29, 2015
Pack need an ILB badly, and McKinney has more bulk to hold up against run than Eric Kendrick. DT Jordan Phillips also received consideration
— Ned Brady (@therealnedbrady) April 29, 2015
Pick 31 - New Orleans Saints (from Seattle Seahawks):
With the 31st overall pick, the Saints select WR Dorial Green-Beckham, formerly of the Missouri Tigers #PatsLifeMock
— Liam Cunningham (@LC_NEP) April 29, 2015
Pick 32 - New England Patriots:
To end the #PatsLifeMock draft, with the #32 pick, the New England #Patriots select #USC WR Nelson Agholor.
— Adam Bogdan (@PatriotsInform) April 29, 2015
With Erving and Jones off the board, Agholor is the best player available. With his skill set, Agholor could start day one. #PatsLifeMock
— Adam Bogdan (@PatriotsInform) April 29, 2015
Edelman will be 29, Amendola will be 30, and LaFell will be 29 by November. The #Patriots need an influx of youth at WR. #PatsLifeMock
— Adam Bogdan (@PatriotsInform) April 29, 2015
The #PatsLifeMock draft article with all picks and analysis will be up on @PatriotsLife later today. Thanks for following along.
