Patriots take Geneo Grissom in third round

The Patriots have taken versatile defensive end Geneo Grissom out of Oklahoma with their compensatory pick in the third round.

Grissom has played all over the field - including some tight end. Based on initial descriptions, he seems to remind me of a sort of younger Rob Ninkovich type. Not in game, but in how the Patriots might use him, where Ninkovich will sometimes fluctuate between a 4-3 defensive end 3-4 outside linebacker. Grissom has the skills, apparently, to do both.

The Pats had back to back picks, but elected to trade out of their final spot in the third round, picking up picks No. 111, No. 147 and No. 202 overall from Cleveland. The Pats also gave up a seventh rounder in the deal, 219 overall.
