Patriots fall to the Packers in preseason opener

The title defense begins tonight. Well, at least the pre-title defense anyways as the Patriots took on the Green Bay Packers in the preseason opener.

Tom Brady took the field as the starter but only played the first two series. Going 1-4 for 10 yards before handing the reigns over to Jimmy Garoppolo.

Garoppolo wasn't spectacular in his first action of the preseason. Going 20-30 for 159 and one interception. He didn't have much help from the patched together offensive line as he was sacked 7 times.

The highlight of the game for the Patriots was a 55 yard run by Jonas Gray. Gray took the handoff and went to the right side and took it to the house.

On the defensive side of the ball the front seven showed signs of being able to get to the quarterback often while the cornerbacks, especially Logan Ryan struggled at times.

In the end, the Patriots fell to the Packers 22-11.

Some injuries to monitor are Tre Flowers, Daryl Roberts and Rufus Johnson all left the game and didn't return. James White took a low hit and left the game for a while but returned later in the game and appeared to be alright.
