Nice Timing: Jets sign Kenbrell Thompkins ahead of clash with Pats
This has to just be a coincidence, right?
Well, actually, it just may be.
With Jets Week officially underway, Gang Green took their first subtle shot in the Border War by signing former Patriots wide receiver Kenbrell Thompkins off their practice squad and to the 53-man roster.
Although the move may not be as sneaky as it seems. as fellow wide out Quincy Enunwa was suspended Monday for four games for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy. Thompkins just happens to conveniently be the next man ready to step up and fill the void for the Jets offense.
After playing last season in Oakland with the Raiders, the Pats briefly brought Thompkins back into the fold in September, only to release him shortly thereafter. Thompkins landed with the Jets, and it seems he'll be suiting up in his first action of the 2015 season against his former team.
In 14 games with New England, Thompkins caught 38 balls on 80 targets for 519 yards and four touchdowns.
