Report: Patriots sniffing around Titans CB Jason McCourty

From Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network:
Now THAT is some juicy trade deadline talk.

Bringing in Jason McCourty would solidify New England's secondary quite well, as he'd slide in as the #2 corner opposite Malcolm Butler, and that 1-2 punch is pretty damn good for all things considered.

A sixth-round pick in 2009 out of Rutgers (yup), the 6-foot, 183-pound McCourty has 11-career interceptions and 60 passes defended in 94 games played. He has 358 tackles and 436 combined to boot. The 28-year-old DB has played in only four games this season and has recorded 15 total tackles yet only one PBU. And now that the Titans have fired head coach Ken Whisenhunt, perhaps the Patriots can swoop in and pick off McCourty from the scrap heap if the team has a mind to deal pieces off the roster.

However, McCourty's contract is rather cumbersome, and Bill Belichick the GM would have to move some pieces and pull some string to accommodate a potential move.
