Jimmy Garoppolo spotted throwing in practice, but reportedly ‘still in pain’

New England Patriots quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo practiced for the second straight day Wednesday and was spotted throwing multiple passes, despite a report which said his throwing shoulder was “still in pain.”

Garoppolo did not appear to be throwing the mall with max effort, according to a video posted to Twitter by Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald. His throw was deep, but lofted with little speed behind it.
It’s almost certain that Garoppolo is still feeling the effects of his sprained AC joint. His return to practice in no way translates to a start on Sunday, especially after a report from CSNNE’s Mike Giardi on Tuesday.

“Garoppolo is still in pain and does not yet have full mobility in his throwing shoulder,” according to Giardi.
Even if Garoppolo can’t dress, the team will be just fine with Brissett. The rookie practiced without a “splint, tape or cast” on his injured thumb, CSNNE’s Tom E. Curran noted.

With that said, Adam Schefter said that the Patriots are “all but certain” to have one of the two quarterbacks come Sunday. And for whatever it's worth, Rex Ryan is a lousy 4-11 against Bill Belichick in his career. He'll be hard-pressed to earn a fifth win no matter who is under center.
