Dion Lewis expected to be limited if he plays on Sunday

With the release of running back Tyler Gaffney, the thought was that Dion Lewis would finally be making a return to game action.

This appears to be true, as the Patriots are expected to active Lewis from the PUP (physically unable to perform) list before the team's Super Bowl XLIX rematch with the Seattle Seahawks. Lewis hasn't played since tearing his ACL on Nov. 8 2015 in a home game against the Washington Redskins.

Since Lewis hasn't seen any game action in a calendar year, and because LeGarrette Blount has had somewhat of a renaissance this year, it is believed Lewis's workload will be limited. However, given how key Lewis was to the Pats offense last year, one would expect that he'll become more of a contributor as the season progresses.

Despite the injury, Lewis had a career year with the Patriots in 2015. The shifty running back rushed 49 times for 234 yards and two touchdowns, while also catching 36 of 50 passes for 388 yards and two scores.
