Julian Edelman: "19-0 talk is stupid"

Nearly 10 years after the Patriots came close to going 19-0, an undefeated season is once again a hot-topic in New England.

At least on paper, this might be Bill Belichick's most talented team since the famed 2007 team. It might even be better than '07.

No matter how we as fans feel, though, players like Julian Edelman thinks talking about 19-0 is dumb.

ESPN:

"You can't worry about what other people say, honestly. I mean, there's no script to this thing. There's no camera. This isn't Hollywood. This is real life," he told the newspaper. "When you go out and play in the National Football League, it's one of those things where it's even stupid to think about that. It's never been done. You don't really want to talk about it.

"My focus is more on trying to get ready for the season, trying to learn your teammates, form your identity. [The 19-0 talk is] stupid. That's it."

It truly is amazing that the Patriots won the Super Bowl and got so much better. They are far and away the best team in the NFL with no close second, which is exactly why 19-0 may be in play.

How fitting would it be to see them pull it off?

It would be incredible, especially when everyone knows they almost did it once before. It would cement them as the greatest NFL franchise in history. They would tie the Steelers for the most Super Bowls (6) and would be the first team to go undefeated since the 1972 Miami Dolphins.

The talk of 19-0 will certainly be fun and interesting, but the longer it goes on, the more nervous it's going to make me. I'm sure I'm not alone.
