Tom Brady, teammates react to Julian Edelman’s injury

It’s a tough pill to swallow – but the New England Patriots will be without star wide receiver Julian Edelman this season.

The ninth-year veteran went down on just the first drive of the Patriots’ third preseason game last Friday against the Detroit Lions. Edelman was carted off the field, and it was later confirmed that he had suffered a torn ACL.

Quarterback Tom Brady and other members of the team have reflected on his injury and shown their support through heartfelt social media posts.

Brady and Edelman have unbelievable chemistry on the field. Although he hates to see one of his most trusted weapons go down, Brady has complete faith that Edelman will fight through and overcome this injury.

“He’s a tough guy, man,” Brady said Monday morning on WEEI's "Kirk & Callahan." “He’s fought through other injuries, nothing like I don’t think to this extent. He’s got a great work ethic. He’ll overcome it. I think people have gotten pretty good at overcoming these injuries — knee injuries, surgery and so forth. He’ll work hard. It happened in August, so whenever he has surgery, he will have a long time before next season starts. He will put the work in that is required."
