BREAKING: The Patriots STINK

YouTube
Overreact? Me?? Never! Don't know what you're talking about. But on the real, at the quarter pole of the season this Patriots team is flat out bad. I will get into more specifics and who I want to kill in tomorrow's ramblings (see Gilmore, Stephon) but for the purposes of this post game I'll keep it as general as I can.

How laugh out loud funny are all those 19-0 talks now?? That stuff wasn't even coming from just the fans. There were talented football reporters talking about how stacked this team was. 19-0 was a real possibility. Certainly a 14-2 cake walk, with a first round bye in the bag before Thanksgiving, and most likely a Super Bowl sprinkled on top. LOL. This team is 4 weeks in and staring UP at the Buffalo fucking Bills in the division.

There is plenty of time left in the season for the Pats to right the ship. Everyone keeps saying to me we lost the opener and were 2-2 in 2014 on the way to the Bowl. I'm aware. I was watching. I still think we win the division easily and make yoffs. But that's not what I signed up for. This is New England. We care about championships. That's it. And if this team doesn't get it's act together they have no 'chonce' of hoisting Lombardi number 6.

There are three phases to every football team. Offense, defense, and special teams. You need all three phases to compliment each other if you want to win games, and certainly a trophy. Sometimes one or two units can pick up another but only if it's temporary. So far this season one of the units has not been carrying their weight. Obviously, if you've watched one second of Patriots football, I'm talking about the defense.

The offense didn't quite move the ball as effectively as I would have liked today, but when the horn sounded we hung 30 on the Panthers number one scoring defense and were one more possession away from winning that game in regulation. The defense, on the other hand, is a fucking joke. I don't even know how else to describe it. The big plays were already driving us all crazy but for some reason it still felt like a glitch. Until today. Today was embarrassing.

Carolina receivers were NUDE all over the field. Cam straight up missed 3 tuddies because he decided to throw to the wrong WIDE OPEN receiver. That's not even an exaggeration. Two of those missed tuddies would have basically ended the game too, so we got very lucky. And I got news for you, the Panthers suck too. Cam is not back. They are not back. They are the same team who scored 9 points against the Bills and 13 against the Saints. They are not going to make the playoffs. So what happens when we play an actually good team? I have no clue how we stop the Falcons in a few weeks on SNF. They might score 100 points against us, which I suppose would be cool to see a scoreboard hit triple digits.

How many times did we look up and see DBs covering the same receiver? Or pointing at Panther players pre snap because they had no idea who they were supposed to cover?? You NEVER see stuff like that with the Pats. The ball gets snapped and our entire secondary just scatters, running around the turf like chickens with our dicks cut off. I could complete those passes when no one is being covered. We were supposed to have the top 1 or 2 secondaries in the league!!!! Dev had my two favorite quotes post game. "It's bad. We're letting the team down," safety Devin McCourty said. And then on the Fozzy screen pass tuddy, "Bad play. It had to look like a couple idiots out there."

Couldn't have said it better myself. Duron Harmon, who I've shit on more times than I can count in the past, is one of the only guys playing up to his standard. And his interview after the game was alarming.
"We've simplified it as much as we can." Thems fightin' words. Clearly we've got some idiots on this team who maybe weren't here last year. *cough, cough*

Again, I will get into more specifics tomorrow. And that includes that HATCHET job by the refs, which I wont use as an excuse but shouldn't go unnoticed. The NFL season is long and things change over night, but right now we've got some major problems. I'm having a hard time figuring out how we don't get our doors blown off by the Bucs on Thursday. My boys and I were talking, and James and Pierce put it perfectly. Even though the D was supposed to be one of the best in the league, we don't even need them to be. If they are high teens we can still win a Bowl with Tom and this offense. The only way you torpedo your Bowl dreams is being the worst D in the league, pushing for a "worst D in history" title. Currently, that's exactly what we are.
