Browns reportedly would've given up No. 4 pick for Jimmy Garoppolo

The Browns have needed a quarterback for almost as long as I've been alive.
They thought they might have found their guy in Jimmy Garoppolo, but the problem was that the Patriots weren't willing to do a deal with Cleveland. Too bad, I guess, because the Browns were willing to give the No. 4 overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft for him, along with some other stuff.
Cleveland.com:
I know that Brown was willing to part with Houston's first-round pick and other goodies. He would have been willing to help Belichick shop around for a backup quarterback to help the trade work.
The "Brown" being referenced is former vice president Sashi Brown, who apparently would have also helped Bill Belichick look for a backup quarterback to make the trade work. But instead, Belichick traded Garoppolo to the 49ers for a second-round pick.
Why Belichick didn't at least talk to the Browns is something we'll probably never know. It's especially weird when you consider that Belichick has made two recent trades with Cleveland (Jamie Collins and Barkevious Mingo).
Right now, that trade looks like fools gold for the 49ers. But as we all know, anything can happen.
