Matt Patricia is expected to become the new head coach of the Detroit Lions once the Patriots' seasons is over, according to reports that just recently broke.

This was originally the expected move for Patricia until the interest between he and the Giants grew. Patricia has been thought to be a head coaching candidate for the last couple of years and will now finally get his shot assuming nothing changes.

He also has ties to Lions GM Bob Quinn, who was with the Patriots for over a decade before heading to Detroit.

Patricia has been in the Pats' organization since 2004 and has served as defensive coordinator since 2011.
