Dallas Cowboys are hosting LaAdrian Waddle and Cameron Fleming for free agent visits

This week we got the news that our top two backup tackles were doing the old college tour and info session down in Dallas.
Oh no, not Fleming and Waddle! Help us, oh merciful football gods! Look, I'm sorry, I'm just not as worried about left tackle as everyone else is right now.

The Patriots have made a living on next guy up, turning trash into treasure, and every other cliche at pretty much every position except quarterback and left tackle. So I get it. We went from Matt Light to Nate Solder and have never really had to worry about Tom's blind side his entire career.

Well, I've got news for you. Those guys weren't that good. I truly LOVE both of them. But if Nate Solder was playing LT for the Titans last year and was now a free agent, not a single one of you would be screaming from your rooftops that we better go sign that Nate Solder guy and make him the highest paid tackle in the league. No fucking way.

How many pro bowls did Matt Light make in 10 years? Three. How many has Solder made in 7 years? Three. No wait. ZERO. They are both good left tackles. Better than good. But they are not elite. I'm not saying Waddle or Fleming or Cannon or Garcia is better than Solder, but I am saying we are going to be fine without an elite left tackle because we've never had one before.

Scar is a huge boost in this situation, and he will have his work cut out for him. We obviously have a decision to make, because Matt Tobin isn't the answer. (Anytime you can sign a backup lineman from the worst online unit in all of football I guess you gotta do it?) I wouldn't be surprised if we move Cannon over to LT and have Garcia play RT. Jesse posted today that Garcia is back to playing weight and has the greenlight for 2018. I wouldn't' be surprised if we let Garcia start at LT. I wouldn't be surprised if we resign Fleming or Waddle and plug them in at LT. The Cowboys obviously aren't signing both of them, and shockingly they are the best tackles remaining on the free agent market this year. I wouldn't be surprised if we take someone at 31 in the draft and plug him in Week 1.

The only thing that would surprise me is if anyone is talking about the Patriots having LT issues by next Thanksgiving. Yawn.

PS Lets get Joe Thomas to come out of retirement? Was he a free agent or does Cleveland still own his rights? He loves Tom. He hates Goodell. He's never been in the playoffs. How about the vet minimum for a ring or two? Sounds like a deal to me.
