Former Georgia running back, Sony Michel, hasn’t even begun his NFL career, but he is already expected to perform well this season - at least according to Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver AJ Green.

Green is a fellow Bulldog who had seen Michel play before and says he was pleasantly surprised.

“I love Sony,” Green said. “You know his versatility and him going to New England – that’s my pick for Rookie of the Year. Mark it down.”

He continued, “I know how versatile he is. When you put him in a system like New England’s where he can be out there running routes and in the backfield – all the stuff going on against linebackers.”

Green also added that out of the six ex-Bulldogs selected in this year’s draft, Michel will make “the biggest mark at the next level.”

The Patriots chose to invest in Michel at pick number 31 in this year’s draft. This was the first time since 2006 that New England drafted a first-round running back, and the team hopes his versatility and adaptability will allow him to make a strong impact.

While with the Bulldogs, Michel rushed 566 times for 3,359 yards and 30 touchdowns over his collegiate career. He also caught 60 passes for 580 yards and five receiving touchdowns.

Michel’s ability to contribute as both a runner and pass catcher gives New England high hopes for the rookie; and AJ Green thinks he will exceed their expectations.
