#TBT to the last Patriots-Jaguars matchup

It’s an AFC Championship rematch this week as the New England Patriots and the Jacksonville Jaguars will face off on Sunday in a 4:25pm matchup.

LAST TIME OUT

The Patriots and the Jaguars last met on January 21, 2018 with a chance to go to the Super Bowl on the line.

After being down 20-10 early in the fourth quarter, it was rally time for the Patriots. Then, with just 2:48 remaining in the game, Tom Brady and Danny Amendola connected on a 4-yard touchdown pass to give New England a 24-20 comeback victory.

NOTEWORTHY

Rob Gronkowski left the game in the first half after a helmet-to-helmet collision with Jacksonville safety Barry Church.

Brandin Cooks and Danny “Playoff” Amendola came up big in this game. Cooks caught six passes for 100 yards while Dola finished the game with seven catches for 84 yards and two touchdowns.

The victory over the Jaguars sent Tom Brady to his eighth Super Bowl in his 18-year career.

THE STATS

Tom Brady went 26-of-38 for 290 yards and two touchdowns, while Blake Bortles was 23-of-36 for 293 yards and one touchdown.

Dion Lewis led all rushing efforts for New England, carrying the ball nine times for 34 yards, while James White had the only rushing touchdown for New England.

For the Jaguars, Leonard Fournette had 24 touches for 76 yards and one touchdown.

Brandon Cooks and Danny Amendola had big receiving days for the Patriots. Cooks caught six balls for 100 yards, while Amendola had seven receptions, 84 yards and two touchdowns.

For Jacksonville, Allen Hurns led the receivers with six receptions for 80 yards. Marcedes Lewis tallied the only receiving touchdown for the Jaguars. He had one catch for four yards.

Each side of the defense racked up three sacks in the game. For the Patriots, it was Kyle Van Noy, Lawrence Guy and Adam Butler with one each on their stat line, while Marcell Dareus had one and Dante Fowler Jr. had two for the Jags.

Kyle Van Noy and Trey Flowers had nine total tackles each for New England, while Telvin Smith had eight for Jacksonville.

Patriots kicker Stephen Gostkowski was one-for-one on a 31 yard field goal, while Josh Lambo was two-of-two on field goals.

The New England Patriots will travel to Florida this week to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. Game time is set for 4:25pm from TIAA Bank Field.
