Patriots extend consecutive winning seasons record by beating Vikings

Nancy Lane | Boston Herald

The New England Patriots have had a long run of success that spans almost two decades now.

Consistency is key, in the fact that the team has 18 straight seasons with a .500 record or better. The NFL record for most consecutive .500 seasons is 21, set by the Dallas Cowboys from 1965 through 1985.

With a 24-10 victory over the Minnesota Vikings yesterday, the team was able to secure that 18th straight winning season. It was all the way back in 2000 during Bill Belichick’s first year as a head coach, that the Patriots were held under .500 with a record of 5-11.

It’s hard to have that kind of stability and success for so long, but since that 2000 season, New England is on a very impressive run that we all are sure to remember.
