The Dolphins are planning to hire Brian Flores as their next head coach

A prominent member of the Patriots' coaching staff will be on his way out once their season ends, and it's not Josh McDaniels.

De facto defensive coordinator Brian Flores will reportedly become the next head coach of the Miami Dolphins, according to reports that surfaced yesterday. Because New England is in the playoffs, the Dolphins can't officially sign him or announce anything until they're done.

Not that Miami wouldn't be rooting against the Patriots already, but I'm sure they're hoping New England's season ends on Sunday so they can get Flores in quicker.

Flores has worked with the Patriots in multiple capacities since 2004. He started off in the scouting department and worked his way up to a coaching assistant in 2008. Various roles on the coaching staff led him to become the linebackers coach and this season, he was tasked with calling the defensive plays.

He'll look to turn a 7-9 Dolphins team that may be going through a rebuild. There has been some talk that Miami could look to retool the quarterback position, and they'll need some fixes for a defense that allowed 27.1 points per game last season.

Wonder if Flores will tear down all the Miami Miracle stuff that is hanging around the bowels of Hard Rock Stadium.
