Patriots release DE Adrian Clayborn

Steve Mitchell/USA TODAY Sports
In a cost-cutting move, the Patriots have released defensive end Adrian Clayborn.

With Clayborn now an unrestricted free agent, New England created about $4 million in cap space. It appears Clayborn asked to be released.

In his lone season with New England, Clayborn helped establish a Patriots pass rush that was, at times, dominant. He had 2.5 sacks, one forced fumble and 13 QB hits with the Patriots, though he was benched for the final two games of the regular season.
