After testing the waters in free agency over the last few weeks, kicker Stephen Gostkowski will be staying put in New England.

He and the Patriots agreed to a two-year deal, $8.5 million deal on Tuesday, as reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

There were also talks early on Tuesday that the San Francisco 49ers had eyes on Gostkowski, but New England swooped in before there was even a chance for that to happen.

Gostkowski entered the league in 2006 as a fourth-round pick out of Memphis, and since then, has helped the team win three Super Bowls. He has made 87.38 percent of his field goal tries over 13 years with New England, good for third place in NFL history.
